Mozambique, Swaziland & Wildlife

Duration: 2 weeks (14 Days)

Tour Description:

This dive expedition takes us through African Bush and unique Beach Resorts. With the Big 5, palm fringed beaches and diving tropical waters of the Agulhas current filling our 14 days, we will show you the best of some of the greatest underwater diving in the world. With Mantas, Whale sharks, a variety of sharks and the tropical colourful marine life filling our underwater experience, Lions, Zebras, Giraffes, Rhinos and Antelope could fill our land experience. Roan Antelope, Black Rhino, Sable Antelope and Tsesebe are some of the endangered animals awaiting us in Swaziland A very flexible attitude and an open mind can only contribute to the experience of a life time never to be repeated.




Itinerary:

Day 1 & 2: Kruger National Park - After landing at Johannesburg Airport we head for the lowveld after making a stop on the Drankensberg escarpment and viewing the 3rd largest canyon in the world. The night is spent at a lodge near the Orpan Gate. The next day has an early start taking us into the world famous national park. In our time there we will take part in game drives and a Sunset Drive. This will bring us closer to Diurnal Animals (Elephant, Vervet Monkeys, Impalas and Wildebeest) and nocturnal animals (Lions, Leopards, Spotted Genet and Bush Babies). HB

Day 3: Bilene (Mozambique) – Today we cross over from the Kruger into the now Greater Limpopo Transfrontier National Park. Once in Mozambique we will notice how the landscape and vegetation change and the park opens up to the Massingir Dam. Our way also leads past Local villages on route to Bilene. We spend a night in the lagoon cottages. HB

Day4 – 7: Inhambane – Tofo – This morning we have the opportunity to swim in the Bilene Lagoon and refresh ourselves for our drive through the dune forests of this region heading northwards along this picturesque, lagoon dotted, palm fringed coastline through local, vibrant and colourful villages. Once we arrive in Inhambane we will have the opportunity to take a walk though a true African Market where all sorts is on sale. We then make our way down to the coastal town of Tofo. Here we will spend the next 3 nights. The 2 days spent here will be filled with 6 dives exploring Manta Reef, hoping to spot one or more of these magnificent creatures and possibility a whale shark too. Other Marine life we hope to see are Frog Fish, Spanish Dancers, Honeycomb Morays, Leopard Sharks, a variety of Nudibranchs and Pipefish. HB

Day 8: (Maputo) – We head back through Inhambane, and after a long drive we arrive in the capital of the country; Maputo. This vibrant city offers street side cafes, beachfront Esplanade and a Mediterranean feel. HB

Day 9 & 10: Mkaya Game Reserve (Swaziland) – We head to the Swazi Boarder. After clearing customs we head through the sugar cane field of Swaziland; one of their main exports. We arrive at Mkaya Game Reserve and check into this spectacular lodge open to the bush. The afternoon is spent doing a game drive through this unique area. Many endangered spicies stand on the list; Black Rhino, Roan Antelope, Crested Guinnefowl and many others common to the bush like Giraffe, Elephant and Impala. The next day will be spent on a game walk getting to know the little things from the Bush and another Game Drive to see if those Elephants come closer today. HB

Day 11 – 13: Sodwana Bay (South Africa) – After our last game walk this morning we head south back into South Africa. We drive toward the coast to Sodwana Bay. This area is part of the Greater St. Lucia Wetlands National Park which has been declared a World Heritage Site. 15% of the worlds Marine life is found on the Various reefs of Sodwana Bay. The next 2 days will be spent doing 4 dives. We hope to see various different kinds of Morays, Hard Coral Gardens, Moorish Idols, various angelfish and so much more. HB

Day 14: Johannesburg – Today we head back to Johannesburg where we get transferred to the Airport for our flight back home. B

1. Breakfast and Dinner every day in basic en suit accommodation through out.

5. Game drives and a night drive in Kruger

6. 8 dives, air fill and cylinder, boat & weigh belt hire

7. Game Walks and Game Drives in Mkaya Game Reserve

What is Excluded:

1. Flights

2. Lunch

3. Optional Activities such as quad biking, beach horse riding, Canoe hire, windsurfing and other activities not mentioned in the itinerary.

4. Visa for South Africa. (Obtained at the Johannesburg Airport)

5. Dive Equipment rental (Additional € 100 per person)
